PA doctor, hospital accused of negligence in girl’s death

On behalf of Savinis, Kane, & Gallucci, L.L.C. | Feb 5, 2016 | Wrongful Death

Medical care is the difference between life and death for many people. When a person dies while receiving medical care, it is possible that doctors or other hospital staff made a mistake that caused the death.

Recently there was an incident at a Pennsylvania care facility where the staff was treating a girl for symptoms of cough, congestion and abdominal pain. What happened next is almost unbelievable.

The day after she got treated at the Pennsylvania care facility, the girl passed away. Her mother has filed a lawsuit against the facility and a few of its doctors and medical staff alleging negligence and wrongful death of her daughter. The mother claims that no doctor ever even examined her daughter. An exploratory laparotomy confirmed that the girl’s appendix had ruptured, which led to her death.

In her lawsuit, the girl’s mother seeks a jury trial, compensatory and punitive damages of more than $150,000, plus legal costs.

Pending the legal process and a full investigation, the status of this case is undecided. It is important to raise questions after a loved one’s unexpected death. Traumatic circumstances such as this are confusing and can raise a lot of questions. Questions about medical bills and the future. There are many questions that can be answered by fully examining all options.

Doctors and hospitals have a duty to give their patients appropriate care. When they fail to meet that requisite standard of care and it leads to patient’s death, surviving family members can file a wrongful death lawsuit.
