Exercising extra caution while behind the wheel is no longer limited to dangerous driving conditions. It is a must, especially when it comes to the often congested and busy roads and highways of Pennsylvania. Otherwise, an accident can easily occur and injure not just the driver, but numerous others as well.
A recent fatal accident involving Pennsylvania state troopers is a sad reminder that even those who have a good grasp of safety and traffic laws are not immune from making dangerous mistakes on the road.
According to the report, a vehicle driven by a 48-year-old state trooper was traveling along the westbound lane of Sterrettania Road around 3:30 a.m. when it failed to yield. The vehicle, which also had another trooper onboard as a passenger, proceeded into the intersection. Unfortunately, as it did so, it struck a vehicle driven by a 57-year-old woman. The woman died on the scene and the troopers had to be extricated from their vehicles. They were taken to a trauma unit where they were treated for moderate injuries. An accident reconstruction team has been assigned to investigate the details of the accident.
Safety should always be everyone’s first priority while on the road. One slight mistake by a driver can easily lead to an accident and cause injuries or cost the life of another motorist. This does not only refer to disregarding traffic regulations, but in other negligent driving practices as well. Distracted driving, like using a smartphone, can impair a person’s concentration on the road. Drunk or drugged driving can also lead to similar dangers.
